Lake Delhi Dam
Detailed analysis of the Maquoketa River Watershed, lake Delhi and surrounding areas provided large amounts of data and information. We used ArcGIS to produce many insightful maps and overlays. We gained an understanding of the natural environment, economic structures, and complexities of social dynamics involving the river and dam.
We took an in depth look at the relationships between, wildlife, vegetation, buffer, agriculture, private lands and rivers. We determined that certain inter-relationships were very critical or wildlife while others were very important for social and economic reasons.
As Landscape Architects we proposed concepts for the redevelopment of the Lake Delhi Dam area, as well as other areas along the river. Different scenarios were proposed that involved rebuilding the dam and also removing the dam entirely. Each concept had pros and cons and explained benefits for the wildlife or social economic re-growth.
